Mayor Pushes Hydrogen Research

"Columbia SC Mayor Bob Coble says the city needs to spend $1 million a year to draw companies and other groups interested in hydrogen-fuel research to the area. The University of South Carolina is developing a research campus in downtown Columbia, and one of the major areas of research will be hydrogen-fuel cells, which some scientists say could replace electricity as a more cost-effective energy source for consumers and businesses."
